KS4 Project

There is an ongoing project being carried out on behalf of the Association for Physical Education to gather evidence of good practice in Key Stage 4 Physical Education provision. Our goal is to develop a bank of information/examples of best practice to be shared across the profession. Those providing such evidence will be fully acknowledged in the documentation produced.

The project is seeking information related to:

  • Promoting participation at KS4
  • Increasing girls participation
  • Protecting and increasing time for PE at KS4
  • Innovative approaches to curriculum content, design and delivery at KS4
  • Flexible use of facilities
  • Development of partnerships including the local community to enhance opportunities
  • Improving learning in and through PE
  • Identifying, supporting and developing those with talent in PE.

If you are aware of any examples of good practice in your school, partnership or Local Authority please contact Professor Richard Bailey (r.bailey@roehampton.ac.uk) giving a brief description of the practice being implemented.

The National PE and School Sport Professional Development Programme is managed by the Consortium Management Group which consists of Youth Sport Trust, Association for PE (afPE) and sports coach UK (scUK).

Practical activities to help you achieve your target

The programme aims to support the implementation of the high level targets within the overall PE, Sport Strategy, and Young People strategy outlined by the DCSF. The programme forms one of the nine strands of the PESSYP national strategy and is designed to provide a tool for the Local Authority and PESSYP infrastructure of Specialist Sports Colleges and School Sports Partnerships to meet their aims in delivering the five hour offer.

Notice
If your LDA wishes to continue to benefit from funding and support for the delivery of the NCPD programme, you will need to provide us with a statement of your interim priorities outlining the impact you wish to make and the significant milestones that you aim to achieve in six months time. The Annual Report that you have recently sent us will form a useful starting point for this plan. We have provided a template for you to use and this must be returned by email to Rob Comber by April 30th 2008 in order to draw down further funding.
Notice
This website allows the LDA to complete monthly data returns on engagement against self set targets, and the impact the training has had. The reporting process is used to satisfy government targets. The deadline date for the completion of the report information is the 10th of each month and should be retrospective for the previous month. If for any reason the report is not completed by the deadline the LDA will be emailed to remind with a reminder message. If you are unable to complete a report, please contact Rob Comber.
